A Juggler’s Tale is a cinematic platformer with a beautiful low-poly art style. The game feels a bit like a storybook that you can play. The environments look simple but very pretty, and the lighting and colors help create the mood of the game.
One of the best parts of the game is the narration. A narrator tells the story while you play, and the lines are written in rhymes. This makes the game feel unique and almost like listening to a poem. The tone of the story is often sad and a little eerie, which adds to the lonely feeling of the journey.
You play as Abby, a small puppet who performs on stage. After a performance she ends up locked up, and later escapes. As she tries to get away, mercenaries start chasing her and want to capture her. Because Abby is a puppet with strings controlled by a puppeteer, the game adds an interesting layer to the story. You are trying to escape, but at the same time you are still controlled by the person you're trying to escape from.
The controls are simple and easy to learn. Most of the puzzles are straightforward and not too difficult. However, some animations are a bit slow, which can make certain puzzle moments feel slightly sluggish.
Overall, A Juggler’s Tale is a short but very enjoyable game. Its strong style, narration, and emotional story make it a memorable experience, even if it doesn’t last very long.
